biography
 | Barbara Spring is the author of three books: The Dynamic Great
Lakes, a critically acclaimed book about the ever changing Great Lakes
ecosystems, and The Wilderness Within, a book of nature poetry and
essays and Sophia’s Lost and Found, a book of poetry.
Both books are in many university and public libraries. The Dynamic
Great Lakes is in the Google Scholar program since it is in the
University of Michigan’s Bentley Library.

Worked on grassroots committees for many years for the improvement of
the environment: Michigan Pesticides Council; Kitchel Dune Committee;
Water Resources Chairman for the League of Women Voters on the state
level.

Lakes.

and recommended for the Restoring Creation program of the Presbyterian
Church.
Taught in Grand Haven Public Schools and at Grand Valley State
University. Designed courses around environmental studies at GVSU.
Reporter for the Grand Rapids Press for seven years specializing in
outdoor articles.
Published articles in Michigan Natural Resources Magazine; Michigan Out
of Doors and Field and Stream as well as several other magazines and
newspapers.
Maintains an educational website: The Dynamic Great Lakes used by
schools and individuals in many countries.
