Another approach to publishing-

Not everybody plans to write a best-seller. The rise in genealogical research means that many families have a fine, very personal story to tell.

But how to record it? A scrap-book is one solution. A beautiful, leather bound and tooled cover is another.

What better solution than to produce a handful of beautiful books.

This is LifeLines Press  speciality.

LifeLines Press

LifeLines Press is different from almost every other publishing house. Specialising in memoirs and family histories of all sorts, it was set up by two professional writers who were concerned about the exploitation of the innocent by vanity publishers.

Working for many years as literary consultants they read a huge variety of fascinating autobiographies that were not really commercial, but were nevertheless important manuscripts that deserved to be in print. What they didn’t want to do was make false promises about the possibility of sales.

That’s why, unlike other publishing houses, the books produced by LifeLines Press are not intended for sale. They don’t have an ISBN number. Instead they’re designed to be given away to friends and family, or kept as family heirlooms for the enjoyment of future generations.

The 'interview service' from LifeLines Press

Private publishing

They were aware that many fascinating autobiographies and family stories were being rejected by commercial publishers. The only options open to the authors were vanity presses or and self-publishing. Both these suggest the possibility of sales which, in reality, rarely happen. Vanity presses can be extremely expensive, and unless you know what you’re doing, self publishing can result in fairly indifferent looking books, poorly laid out, on inferior paper.
